Veterans Aid and Attendance Program
The Veteran’s Aid and Attendance Program (A&A) provides benefits for veterans and surviving spouses who require regular assistance with the activities of daily living. The care provided at an assisting living community may qualify for this benefit.
Common examples of required assistance include dressing, bathing, cooking, removing prosthetics, transportation, and medication management. Aid & Attendance applicants must be able to provide written confirmation from a physician asserting a need for assistance with any combination of these activities.
Applicants are encouraged to contact the US Department of Veterans Affairs or U.S. Senior Vets, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, whose primary function is to educate Veterans, surviving spouses, and their families in obtaining Aid Attendance and Housebound Pension Benefits, with questions regarding the A&A qualification and application process.
